Peanut has eaten for the first time

Today was Peanut's big day. The yolk sac is fully absorbed now and he has started eating at day 7. And boy did he eat! 4 Dandelion leaves and a half flower. He now moved to his big brother Kiwi into the regular baby pen.

Day 3 in Peanut's life

This is what Peanut's yolk sac looks like today. Almost absorbed and ready to close. He did not eat anything yet and still lives from the yolk. Isn't nature amazing?

Can you tell Kiwi, his big brother loves strawberries?

Kiwi is not really interested in little Peanut, but I hope that will change as soon as they spend more time together.

Breakfast time

Peanut doesn't appreciate a good breakfast yet, but his yolk sac is almost gone and I am assuming he will find out how good the other stuff tastes latest in a couple of days. He took a good sip of water today while bathing, so he was definitely already thirsty.

Kiwi and Peanut

Kiwi now 10 months old and little Peanut 1 day old. When I see them beside each other I am thinking now, Peanut's Dad could be Daisyboy who has no red color.

Peanut has hatched

Here he is, my sweet little baby. I named him Peanut.
He is the size of a quarter. I gave him a nice warm bath to remove the egg shell left overs from his yolk sac. Then I placed him on a towel to make a picture, but he run away and it was almost difficult to catch up with him. I am sure, Georgy is his Dad again, like he is Kiwi's Dad. Maybe one of the next eggs will be Daisyboy's offspring, who knows.

Isn't he the sweetest thing on earth?

I saw his sweet face!

Afternoon of hatching day 1. He managed to peel the egg off his face and I could have a peek on it. He is such a sweetheart and has already captured my heart. I already forgot how small they are when they hatch. Kiwi will be so happy to finally get some company. I shot a couple of pictures, but it looks kinda strange , if you don't see it in real. He is still folded and what iis right beneath his face, is the left leg. I am expecting him to unfold and burst the egg maybe tomorrow during the day. He works still hard and doesn't seem to make a break. I hope he will be fully hatched by tomorrow night. I can't wait to hold him on my hand.

It's hatching time :)

This morning when I looked into the incubator, I saw a little leg and some shell looking out of a cracked egg. OMG, I am sooo excited! It's been 94 days only!!!!

The little guy is fighting pretty hard to get out of the egg, I can't wait to see him fully.
I have not decided on a name yet, I guess I will wait until he has fully hatched to see what he looks like.
